Most Expensive Diamonds

I just love looking at and marveling at ridiculously expensive things, all kinds of things from homes to hotel rooms from cars to carpets! Of course there is a certain envy of those who can afford these things but good luck to them, if you got it flaunt it.

Lets start with some diamonds shall we? Right up there in the ridiculously expensive stakes are diamonds. Did you know the biggest buyers of expensive diamonds are men and not always for their women. No these guys buy diamonds for their collections. Not surprisingly these guys are amongst the worlds wealthiest. They travel to international auctions and dealers in Africa, Australia and other countries in the hunt for perfect diamonds.

Perfection is the key here, size is not everything! Flawless diamonds are rare and very expensive, clarity and color are other key factors in a diamonds worth.

Forbes.com estimated values on several of the worlds most expensive diamonds and among them were:

The Mouawad Diamond Necklace at USD 12m contains a 70 carat stone at its center

Sotheby’s D-Grade Flawless Diamond, 108 carats at USD 16m

The Leviev Fancy Vivid Yellow Diamond, 77.12 carats at USD 10m

The Graff Fancy Vivid Pink Pear Shaped Diamond at USD 10m

The Darya-ye Noor Diamond of the Iranian Crown Jewels is reported to be the largest pink diamond at about 186 carats

Or how about the monster diamonds like the “Star of Africa” at 530.2 carats on display in the Tower of London or the “Golden Jubilee” at 545.67 carats.

I’ll have two thanks!

Pumpkin Diamond
The Pumpkin Diamond: a type known as a Fancy Vivid Orange worth about USD3m!

Steinmetz Pink
The Steinmetz Pink Diamond: the largest known vivid pink diamond, nearly 60 carats.
